Frame & Plan Cont.

Today was our first official meeting with Becky, the supervising faculty (yayyy!), in this new semester!

We started the conversation with recapping the 8th Annual Progressive Education Summit last Saturday. Sarah shared about the experience of listening to 6 different story-tellers of Baltimore and the workshops she attended, and I reviewed the opening keynote speech on place-based education and the workshop about increasing civil engagement through historical events.

Then, we started to look into our project work, recognizing that we’re still working through the FRAME&PLAN stage. We shared four potential approaches and explained why we’re more likely to work with existing teacher networks or with one school.

From there, we brought up the design principles that we came up with, which need to be further crafted and refined. We will continue to identify more design principles as we further our research and develop our specific direction.

Becky shared some connections she has and suggested some potential partners for Sarah and I to reach out to. Becky also pointed out that–other than working with existing teacher networks or a school– “teachers in training” can be the partner/resource to the project as well.

After meeting with Becky, Sarah and I worked on deciding the time frame of this project. By knowing the time constraint we are facing, we hope that we can frame out a design challenge that has a realistic scope and can lever the biggest positive influence through the work.
